Seretse Small is a Jamaican guitarist, composer, educator, and cultural consultant whose work bridges live performance, creative education, and cultural strategy.
With nearly four decades of experience across jazz, reggae, Afro-Caribbean music, and the wider African diaspora, Seretse is known for performances that are both musically rich and deeply rooted in Jamaican identity. His work connects tradition and innovation—honouring ancestral knowledge while engaging contemporary audiences at home and abroad.
Beyond the stage, Seretse is the founder of Avant Academy of Music and the principal of KS Small Consulting, where he designs programs and frameworks that strengthen creative industries, tourism entertainment, and cultural education across the Caribbean. His thinking and practice are shaped by a lifelong commitment to cultural authenticity, artistic excellence, and the development of people.
Whether performing, teaching, or consulting, Seretse’s work asks a simple but powerful question:

This night is very special to me. It’s not just a performance — it’s a comeback and a re-launch, as I step into the final phase of my career doing music that is fully true to who I am: my musicality, creativity, and philosophy.
On the night, I’ll be playing three guitars — jazz guitar, electric guitar, and nylon-string — exploring the full range of what lives in my musical heart as a composer and improviser.
I’ll be joined by an incredible band: 🎸 Carlton Jarrett – bass 🥁 Wendell Lawrence – drums 🎹 Sheldon Bernard – keyboards 🎤 Alicia Taylor – vocals 🎷 Oshane Love – tenor saxophone
We’ll also feature a full horn section on selected pieces, with music by Miles Davis, Weather Report, and Chick Corea, alongside my original compositions and two pieces from an upcoming album.
